Official Rules and Regulations of the
Lions Club of Rio Linda Ducky Derby

OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE RIO LINDA LIONS RUBBER DUCKY DERBY

  1.  Ducks will be launched into Dry Creek at Elkhorn Boulevard approximately 12:30pm on Sunday, April 30, 2023. The race course will be established by the Rio Linda Lions Club and will be approximately 1/3rd of a mile long.

  2. All adopted ducks entered will be provided by and shall remain the property of the Rio Linda Lions Club

  3.  Once the ducks are launched, they are on their own. No attempt to free or interfere with any duck is permitted during the race.

  4. A number will be attached to each duck relating to the number on the adoption certificate and a comprehensive spreadsheet that will be available for viewing at the event.

  5. The person’s, company or team name that appears on the adoptions spreadsheet corresponding to the numbers of the ducks in order of finish will be awarded prizes. The last duck that crosses the finish line within 30 minutes of the first duck crossing will receive the lame duck prize.

  6. Any ducks that cross the finish line 30 minutes after the first duck crosses the line aside from the single Lame Duck Winner will not win a prize.

  7. The entry portion of each race ticket must be completely filled out and delivered to a Rio Linda Lions Club Member, or an authorized representative of the Rio Linda Lions Club, or mailed to the Rio Linda Lions Club 2-weeks prior to the race for the adopted duck to be eligible to win any prize.

  8. No other ducks other than the Rio Linda Lions Club Ducks are eligible to win any prize. Entrants assume the risk of non-delivery of any entries to the Rio Linda Lions Club or an authorized representative.

  9. No purchase is necessary to enter to win. The Rio Linda Lions Club does encourage a donation of $5 per duck to benefit the Rio Linda Lions Club or another approved community service organization. One free duck will be entered by presenting a handwritten request in person at a Rio Linda Lions Club Meeting on the 2nd and 4th Thursday between 6:30pm and 7:00pm up to 3-weeks prior to the event.

  10. Winners will be announced at the race finish line at Hayer Park at 905 G St, Rio Linda, CA. Race winners need not be present to win. If a winner is not present, they will be notified by United States Mail Service or telephone. A list of race winners will be posted on the Rio Linda Lions Website www.riolindalionsclub.com.

  11. If any race winner does not claim their prize within 30 days of the event, the prize will be repurposed for another community function.

  12. Each winner has the sole responsibility of paying taxes and similar fees on any prize(s) won. No cash equivalent prizes will be provided in lieu of the designated prizes.

  13. By entering, winners consent to promotional use of their name and likeness without additional compensation.

  14. Chances of winning depend on the total number of qualified entries.

  15. This event is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.

  17. The Rio Linda Lions Club has the right to reschedule the race for any reason. A public announcement for the new date will be communicated on FaceBook and by text to the adoptive parents

  18. Other non-profit community service organizations are welcome to use this event as a fundraiser.

  19. The use of this event as a fundraiser must be pre-arranged with the Rio Linda Lions Club.

  20. The approved non-profit community service organization will be referred to as a partner.

  21. Partners must meet the spirit of the Lions Club Code of Ethics as determined by the Rio Linda Lions Club Board of Directors.

  22. The partner using this event as a fundraiser must reproduce and use provided promotional materials.

  23. Ducky adoption donations must be conducted at the same price as stated on the Rio Linda Ducky Derby Adoption Flyer

  24. All moneys and adoption records must be given to the Rio Linda Lions Club at least 2-weeks prior to the event.

  25. A total of 50% of the receipts will be returned to the partner organization via check in the partner organization’s name within 30 days after the event is complete.

  26. Partners do not have the authority to provide “no purchase necessary” duckies. If a request is made, the inquiry should be directed to the Rio Linda Lions Club

  27. A list of approved partners will be kept on the Rio Linda Lions Club webpage www.riolindalionsclub.com

  28. Partners that enable adoptions of over 100 duckies 2-weeks or more before the event will be recognized by a yard sign displayed at the event.

  29. Partners must provide regular updates of adoptions to assure adequate supply
